Vera Diane Chapman, of Lake Butler, passed away on Thursday, March 16, 2023. She was 68.
Diane fought kidney disease for much of the last years of her life, but her welcoming and cheerful spirit never wavered despite her challenging circumstances. A sentiment that echoes true many times in her life.
She married at a young age and was a loving and devoted mother to her two young children, soon becoming both a beautician and entrepreneur. She opened a hair salon in what is now La Crosse City Hall and happily served her local community before retiring to spend her days cultivating plants and raising chickens. The peaceful home she created became her favorite place.
Above all, Diane was committed to her faith in the Lord and served Him however she could. A member of Harmony Free Will Baptist Church, she could often be found lending a helping hand at the church. You could always count on Diane for an encouraging word and good conversation. She never lacked for something to say!
She is survived by her mother, Joyce of La Crosse; her daughter, Michelle (Jimmy) of Cross City; three siblings, Annette (Jim) of Lake Butler, John (Pam) of Gainesville, and James (Belinda) of La Crosse; three granddaughters, Helene (Tucker), Chelsea, and Macy; one great granddaughter, Harper Drew, and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her father Johnny and her son Michael.
Though gone from this world, we rejoice that she now lives completely healed, free of pain and heartache, and worships her Lord and Savior in heaven. Her love and kindness will always be remembered.
A service to honor Diane’s life will be held at 11:00am on Tuesday, March 21, 2023, at her church, Harmony Free Will Baptist. The family will receive friends for a visitation beginning at 10:00am. Diane will be laid to rest immediately following the service at Ft. Call Cemetery. Pastor Bob Brown will officiate the services. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Archer-Milton Funeral Home. 386-496-2008 www.ArcherFuneralHome.com
