Vera Gernes Obituary
Vera Ann Gernes, (formerly Kohner and Steinhoff) of Orono, MN, previously of Chaska and Winona, MN, was 93 years old and died of natural causes on Dec. 10.
She leaves behind a family that loved her very much and will miss her dearly. Brother Verlan "Bud" (Myrna, deceased) Steinhoff. Children Gail Bjorklund, Doug (Kelly) Kohner, Tim (Char) Kohner, Curt (Shelby) Kohner. In addition, 5 stepchildren, Greg (Caroline, deceased) Gernes, Dan Gernes, Mike (Kris) Gernes, Meg (Jeff) Prentice, and Steve (Molly) Gernes. Vera was blessed with 24 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild.
Vera loved to golf, drink wine, garden, play bridge, and most of all, to spend time with her family. She spent many winters in Florida and traveled all over the world. Vera had an incredible zest for life and was always up for a new experience. She also had a strong love of God.
Vera is preceded in death by her parents Edward and Mary Steinhoff, brother Willis Steinhoff, sister Leola Kluender, husbands Jack Gernes and Jimmy Kohner and daughter Liane Shive.
Mass of Christian Burial 11 AM Thursday (12/18) at St. Victoria Catholic Church, 8228 Victoria Drive, Victoria, with visitation starting at 10 am. In lieu of flowers, please donate to a dementia organization of your choice

My deepest sympathy to Vera´s family. We graduated from high school together. Belonged to a card club in Winona. Had many good times.
