She attended Fort Pierce's Lincoln Park Academy where she was became one of the first Homecoming Queens. From an early age, Vera's nurturing spirit and friendly personality were evident-qualities that would define her life and touch countless others.
Vera left Fort Pierce to attend Knoxville College in Knoxville, Tennessee. Vera also spent many years living in New York, where she worked for Citibank. In New York, where she formed lifelong friendships. Vera had a way of making people feel welcomed. She was known by many as a true friend and confidante.
Vera was a mother to many. She devoted much of her life to caring for children, helping to raise generations of children. She provided a safe place, and a constant source of love. Vera also loved to cook and was known for her famous macaroni and cheese.
A woman of strong faith, Vera was a devoted member of Bass Temple Church of God in Christ, where she faithfully served and worshiped for many years. Her life reflected her belief in God-she served proudly, loved deeply, and gave freely.

She leaves to cherish her memory her loving siblings: Marjorie Harrell, Emma Jean Harrell, Bernice Harrell, and Patricia Harrell, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, church family, and friends who loved her dearly and will forever carry her memory in their hearts.
To know Vera was to love her. She will be remembered for her generous spirit, warm smile, and loving heart. Her life was a blessing and her memory a treasure that will continue to live on through all the lives she touched.
As we celebrate her life, we take comfort in knowing that she has heard the words, "Well done, my good and faithful servant." Though she will be deeply missed, we rejoice in the assurance that she now rests in the presence of the Lord she so faithfully served.
