Dudley Harrell Obituary
It is with much sadness that we share the passing of Dudley J. Harrell, who entered eternal rest into the arms of Jesus on December 27, 2025. He was a member of Ocean Drive Presbyterian Church in N. Myrtle Beach, SC.
Mr. Harrell was born in Sussex County, Virginia on June 15, 1933, the son of the late Joseph B. and Mattie Jarratt Harrell. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Virginia Mae Simmons; three brothers, J. Bryan Harrell, Jr., Walter Harrell and Freeman Harrell; daughter, Sheree H. Zimmerman; his first wife, Wren M. Harrell and second wife, Judy V. Harrell.
Mr. Harrell is survived by his daughter, Connie H. Thompson of Southport, NC; two grandsons, Todd Allan Zimmerman (Monica) of Chesterfield, VA and Jake Aaron Zimmerman of Bakersfield, CA; two great- granddaughters, Harper and Riley of Chesterfield, VA; stepson, Greg Venema (Meredith) of LeClaire, Iowa; stepdaughter, Robin V. Fraser of Richmond, VA., son-in-law, William Zimmerman and sister, Melissa Jackson of Fredericksburg.
The funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, January 3 at Owen Funeral Home, 303 S. Halifax Rd, Jarratt, Virginia where the family will receive friends 10 – 11 a.m. one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Courtland, Virginia.
