Vera Herter Obituary
Vera Leah Herter passed away on Thursday, December 18, 2025.
She was born in Golden Eagle on December 3, 1927. She was the youngest child born to Gottlieb and Nevada Herter. Albert and Melba were her siblings.
She trained as a nurse and became an anesthesiologist at the Missouri State Hospital. She started there in 1954 and retired in 1996.
She never lost her love for Calhoun and visited and ran the family farm in Golden Eagle.
The last eight years she was in the care of the Calhoun Nursing and Rehab Center in Hardin.
Having never married or had children, she is survived by numerous nephews and nieces.
Visitation will be Tuesday, December 30, 2025, from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Gress, Kallal, and Schaaf Funeral Home in Brussels.
Graveside service and burial will follow at 11:15 a.m. at St. Matthew's Cemetery in Brussels.
