Vera Regalado Macias was born on May 17, 1952, and passed away peacefully in her sleep at her home on October 17, after a short but courageous battle with liver cancer. She was surrounded by the love and comfort of her family.
A beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt, Vera's life was filled with devotion, strength, and unconditional love for her family.
A proud and loyal San Francisco 49ers fan, Vera didn't just cheer for her team - she lived it. Whether it was a T-shirt, sweatshirt, hat, beanie, or even her favorite Niner Crocs, she wore her team colors proudly - win or lose.
Vera was a hardworking woman who took pride in everything she did. She dedicated many years to the Merced City School District, where she worked as a Recreational Leader. She also worked as a security guard, house cleaner, and at Lamore's Cleaners and Keller's. In every role, she was known for her strong work ethic, kindness, and willingness to lend a hand. Whether it was at work or through her delicious home-cooked meals, Vera gave her very best and cared deeply for everyone around her.
After her time working outside the home came to an end, she embraced her most cherished role - caring for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Nothing made her happier than spending her days with them, sharing her love, stories, and laughter.
She loved being the one to take everyone where they needed to go - school, appointments, and family outings - making sure everyone got there safely. There were many times she didn't enjoy driving, but she did it anyway, always putting her family first and finding joy in caring for those she loved most.
Vera will be remembered for her big heart, sense of humor, and the joy she brought into every room. She was the center of her family - the one who held everyone together with love and laughter.
She is survived by her loving husband Jose Luis Macias; her children Elizabeth Macias, Enrique J. Macias, and Esperanza M. Macias; and her daughter-in-law Andrea. She also leaves behind her sisters Susie Murphy and Rita Huerta; her brother Frank Regalado Sr.; and her brothers-in-law Martin Murphy and Joe Huerta.
She is further survived by her grandchildren Miguel, Priscilla, Gabriel, Junior, Alani, Julianna, Nathan, Joseph, Genesia, and Henry; and her great-grandchildren Eva, Jazilyn, Mathias, Gabriel Malakai, Nayeli, Atiana, Beya, and Mateo. She is also remembered with love by many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will miss her deeply.
Vera was preceded in death by her parents Andres Regalado and Frances Avila Regalado; her brothers John Regalado, Andy Regalado, and Leo Regalado; her sisters Rosie Martinez and Ortie Hopii; and her beloved grandson Lil Bobby Perez.
A Celebration of Life will be held on November 6 at 12:00 PM at Club Mercedes in Merced, California. Family and friends are invited to join in honoring her memory and the beautiful life she lived.
Her family takes comfort in knowing she is at peace - still watching over them, cheering for her 49ers, and making sure everyone gets where they need to be.
The family would like to kindly ask that, in lieu of flowers, friends and family consider making a donation to help with funeral and memorial expenses. Your love, prayers, and support during this time mean more than words can express.
