Life Reflections
Vera Lee McClinton ("Ma") was born May 3rd, 1939, to Emma and Norman Smith in Kansas City, KS. Growing up in Kansas City, Kansas, she attended Dunbar Elementary School, then Northeast Middle School and graduated from Sumner Highschool.
Her career began at KU Medical Center where she worked for seven years as a dietitian. After that she worked at Southwestern Bell where she worked for 35 years, shortly after she retired.
She became a foster grandparent in the USD 500 School district and worked with them for 12 years.
Vera was preceded in death by her mother Emma McClinton (Smith) and her father Norman Smith. Her sister Barbara McClinton, her Niece Patrice McClinton, auntie Geneva McClinton, and Great-grandson Shawn Kennedy.
She is survived by, her one and only daughter, Rhondra Malone, Grandchildren, Derrick Williams (Tamika) Kansas City KS, William Johnson, St. Luis, MO, Justin Johnson, Kansas City, KS, Shenita Moye (Timothy Sr.) Lenexa, KS, Carl Malone, Kansas City, KS, Stacie Rankin (Travis), Overland Park, KS, Michelle Malone, Kansas City, KS. Great grandchildren, Tammy Johnson, Tirina Johnson, Ciara Johnson, Timohty Moye Jr., Shawn Kennedy, Carlon Malone, Xavier Williams, Ray'Jaun Wallace, Trent Moye, Trinity Moye, Treasure Moye, Carson Wallace, Legend Wallace, Briana Moye, Kevin Mangrum, niece Mary McClinton, nephew John McClinton, Dan McClinton, Willian Alvin, cousin Gary and best friend Barbara McDonald.
Vera was a faithful member at Salem Baptist Church for more than 25 years until her health began to fail. Vera was a Sunday school teacher, was in the Racheal Circle and worked in the District.
Some of her favorite things included shopping, traveling and spending time with her family, She loved mastering crosswords and helping people. She especially had a passion for helping young kids learn and grow. She also loved to make her family laugh and getting her hair done, you couldn't tell her nothing!
