Vera Louise Osborne, age 85, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 26, 2025, at Saint Francis Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Born Vera Louise Warner on January 23, 1940, in Lodi, California, she would go on to live a life filled with resilience, determination, and love.
Vera's early years were shaped by the challenging climate of the Great Depression. When the U.S. Government purchased her father's 40-acre farm in Missouri, her family relocated to California in search of work. They spent their days picking fruit along the West Coast before eventually returning to Missouri, specifically to the Goodman/Diamond area, where Vera graduated from Diamond High School in 1958. Her natural singing talent flourished during high school, as she participated in the school choir for four years and sang alongside her sister in church. This love for music remained a constant throughout her life.
Years later, she worked to become a Licensed Practical Nurse. In 1968, she married Averette Henry Osborne, a member of the U.S. Air Force. Their marriage led to a life of adventure as they traveled the world together until his retirement in 1984. Vera called many places home, including Utah, North Dakota, Virginia, Missouri, South Carolina, Michigan, Kentucky, New York and even spent several years overseas in Germany and Belgium due to multiple military assignments.
Vera was a devoted homemaker, known for her generosity in giving gifts to friends and family. She had a flair for dressing up on special occasions, enjoyed finding bargains on television shopping channels, and cherished every moment spent with her husband, whom she loved dearly.
Vera's legacy is enriched by the family members she leaves behind. She is survived by her daughter, Jacqueline DeBroux, and husband John Stephan of Rochester, New York; her son, Steven Osborne, and wife Sheri of Colorado Springs, Colorado; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Vera Louise Osborne was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Averette H. "Abe" Osborne; her parents, Chalmer and Martha Warner; and her siblings: three brothers, George Harris, Elbert "Jack" Warner, and David Warner; and sister, Anna Jane (Warner) Greenfeather.
Funeral services honoring Vera's life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, November 10, 2025. She will be interred alongside her husband at Western New York National Cemetery, located at 1254 Indian Falls Road, Corfu, New York 14036. Vera will be remembered for her outspoken personality, generous nature, and a love for recounting cherished memories from the past that touched the lives of all who knew her.
