Verdus Lowell Reimer, 88, of Guttenberg, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, February 2, 2025.
Verdus Lowell Reimer was born on May 14, 1936, to Milton Joseph Reimer and Hannah Carolina (Strauss) Reimer at Guttenberg Iowa. He was baptized at the St. Paul Lutheran Church by Pastor Harter in July 5, 1936 and confirmed with the class of April 2, 1949 by Reverand Alex Meyer.
Verdus attended the Bandon School in Garnavillo township and later graduated with the class of 1954. He was a member of the FFA, receiving the American Farmer Degree in 1955. He also served in many capacities within his church, including church council, President and Vice President of the congregation, secretary for the council and the Sunday Secretary and Treasurer for over 10 years.
Verdus and Charlotte J. (Davis) Klinkenberg were married on April 13, 1985, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church by Reverand L.C. Urlaub.
Verdus worked alongside his grandparents on the family farm until their passing, after which he continued farming until 1988, when he and Charlotte held a farm sale. He then began working for Murphy Farms of Iowa before joining Clark and Kris Wikner, where he remained until his retirement in 2008. Verdus and Charlotte cherished their time on the farm, raising steers and chickens, and continued to enjoy country living until Charlotte's passing on March 19, 2022.
Survivors include his children, Sandy (Donald) Curran of Sand Springs, Iowa, Bruce Klinkenberg of Grimes, Iowa, and Brenda Murray of Garnavillo, Iowa; grandchildren, Timothy Curran, Amber (Caleb)Thompson, Trisha Curran, Shawn (Bradleigh) Klinkenberg, Stephanie Klinkenberg, Brianna (Joe) Vorwald, Joseph Murray and Brett Murray; great-granddaughter Parker, Riley, Danee and great grandson Jensen.
Preceded in death by his parents, wife Charlotte Reimer.
Celebration of Life: Visitation will be from 9-11 a.m. with services following at St Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church in Garnavillo, Iowa, on Saturday, February 15, 2025. The burial will be in Garnavillo City Cemetery.
