Verna Geraldine (Mueth) Bassemier, 88, of Evansville, Indiana, passed away on Sunday, September 15, 2024 at Ascension St. Vincent Evansville.
Verna was born in Vincennes, Indiana on December 18, 1935 to the late Werner Albanus and Mabel (Ackerson) Mueth. She retired from nursing after 40 years of service. Verna met her husband, Richard, as a child and were married on February 23, 1963. They were together until his passing on April 20, 1997. Verna was kind hearted and the sweetest lady you would have ever met. She enjoyed crocheting, doing crosswords, and reading. Verna liked all music, especially listening to the cello and playing the clarinet. In her free time you could find Verna outside relaxing and watching hummingbirds. She loved to spoil her children and her grandchildren. Verna will be remembered as a loving mother, sister and grandmother.
Verna is survived by her daughter, Rose Lisembee (Brad) of Evansville, IN; son, Jim Bassemier (Susan) of Evansville, IN; brother, Bud Mueth (Debbie) of Evansville, IN; grandchildren, Kelly Bassemier, Sarah Lisembee and Adam Bassemier (Rachel Whitehouse); and by many nieces and nephews.
Verna was preceded in death by her loving husband, Richard William Bassemier; her parents; and by sisters, Angie Angel and Margie Mueth.
A celebration of Verna's life will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, September 19, 2024 at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery Chapel, 2500 Mesker Park Dr., Evansville, IN 47720 with Pastor Alan Scott officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
Friends may visit from 10:00 am until service time on Thursday, September 19, 2024 at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery Chapel.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Kidney Fund (AKF), 11921 Rockville Pike, Suite 300, Rockville, MD 20852 or to It Takes A Village, 1417 N. Stockwell Rd., Evansville, IN 47715.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to DaVita Eastside nurses, Darus and Michelle; and to Dr. Vijay Bhasin for their compassionate care.
