YOUNG, Verna Lee Gross, 99, passed away Thursday, October 30, 2025. She was born on April 26, 1926 in Louisville, Kentucky.
Verna worked as a secretary for the Federal government, 10 years with the Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) and 21 years with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).
She was preceded in death by her husband George Henry Young, Sr, son, George H. Young, Jr, daughter, Lisa Ann Young, parent Raymond Louis Gross and Anna May Murr Gross McLennan, sister, Rosalie Berry and long-time companion, William F. Boone.
Verna is survived by daughter-in-law, Mary Ann Young, two granddaughters, Christina Reeder (Scottie) and Angela Winkenhofer (Michael), four great grandchildren, Brianna, Adam, Zachary and Sophia, four great-great grandchildren, Rilee, Raelynn, Maxwell and Remi. (5 generations)
She traveled worldwide, was an avid book reader, loved to dance (ballroom, square and round dancing), was a member of the Louisville Hiking Club, enjoyed golf, cards, crossword puzzles, bowling, theater, animals and life. She was a life-long member of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church.
Visitation will be from 5-8 PM on Thursday, November 6, 2025 at Bosse Funeral Home, 1355 Ellison at Barret Avenues. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM, November 7, 2025 at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Catholic Church, 1020 E. Burnett Avenue with interment to follow in St. Michael Cemetery.
