Verna B. Thomas, a beloved mother and friend, departed this life peacefully on November 11, 2025, at the age of 95, with her family by her side. Born on July 15, 1930, in Stanton, Texas, she was the cherished daughter of Olin and Jessie Ann (Owens) Clinton.
Verna dedicated her life to her family, finding joy in her role as a homemaker. She was married to Max Lendon Thomas on November 13, 1954, in New Mexico, and their union was filled with love and companionship until his passing on July 18, 2007. Verna's strong spirit and unwavering faith were evident as she was an active member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, where she cultivated lasting friendships and uplifted those around her.
A proud graduate of Stanton High School, Verna also attended Texas Tech University, showcasing her commitment to learning and personal growth. She had a charming sense of humor and an adventurous spirit, which led her to travel and live overseas, creating memories that lasted a lifetime.
Verna is survived by her devoted daughter, Ruth Thomas, who will carry forward the warmth and love her mother instilled in her and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Max Thomas; Parents, Olin and Jessie Clinton and seven siblings.
In celebration of Verna's remarkable life, funeral services will be held on Friday, November 14, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel in Eastland, with Russell Roberts officiating. Interment will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Cisco.
A visitation for family and friends will take place on Thursday, November 13, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
Pallbearers are; Eddie Clinton, James Sanders, Brandon Sanders, Earl Thomas, Danny Thomas, and Keith Thomas, with honorary pallbearers Robert Clinton, Charles Clinton, and Benny Roberts.
