Vernadell Yarrow, 83 died February 3, 2022, in Clay County, KS. She was born on July 27, 1938, in Clay County, the daughter of Laurence and Clara (Mabie) Slingsby. Vernadell was raised in the Garfield Center community. She was a graduate of CCCHS Class of 1956. Vernadell married Larry Yarrow on April 21, 1957, they made their home and farmed in Clay County. She worked at Cody Memorials, C&W Rural Electric. Later, Vernadell worked at KCLY radio station, first as secretary-receptionist and then as the general manager. She also worked at the Hafner Chiropractic office before retiring. Vernadell was a member of the First Baptist Church, Union Homemakers EHU, Sunshine Club and Pilot Club, where she served as club President from 1989-1990. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Valgene Slingsby.

Son: Jeff and wife Linda Yarrow of Wakefield, KS
Son: Daryl and wife Cheryl Yarrow of Glenwood Springs, CO
Sister: Laurel and husband Larry McVey of Chanute, KS
Grandchildren: Matt and Kylie Harstine, Nathan and Melissa Harstine, Ben and Emily Harstine, John Yarrow, Laura Beth and Jared Tefft, Katie Yarrow, Gracie Yarrow, Becca Yarrow
Great-grandchildren: John, Lewis, Lissy and Addie
Memorial Services: 10:30 AM Tuesday, February 8, 2022, at the First Baptist Church in Clay Center, KS
Minister: Rev. Matthew Coleman
Burial: 2:30 PM Tuesday, February 8 at Uniondale Cemetery, Clay County, Kansas
Visitation: 4-7 PM Monday, February 7, 2022, at Neill-Schwensen-Rook Funeral Home
Memorials: First Baptist Church or American Diabetes Association. c/o the funeral home
