In Loving Memory of Vernice "Mickey" Blyden

May 19, 1953 – August 21, 2025

· Vernice "Mickey" Blyden, age 72, of Sunrise, Florida, passed away peacefully of natural causes on August 21, 2025. Born on May 19, 1953, in Tortola, British Virgin Islands, Mickey lived a life marked by grace, resilience, and unwavering love for her family and community.

· A Life Well-Lived

· Mickey was the beloved daughter of Violet Blyden and Walter Freeman. She grew up surrounded by a large and loving family, including siblings Claudius, Granville (deceased), Eric, Janice, Noel (deceased), John, Hugh, Leonice, James, Denise (deceased), Berenice (deceased), and Perry. Her childhood was enriched by the enduring friendships she shared with Eleanor and Georgia.

· A lifelong learner, Mickey earned her Associate's Degree from Kingsborough College and her Bachelor's Degree from the City College of New York. She dedicated her professional life to teaching, nurturing young minds with the same warmth and compassion she extended to everyone around her.

· Her journey took her from Tortola to St. Thomas, South Carolina, New York, and finally Florida, where she continued to embrace life with joy and purpose. Mickey found delight in sewing, knitting, crocheting, and speed walking. Her passion for fitness was matched only by her love of fabric stores, where she could often be found exploring textures and colors with childlike wonder.

· A Heart Full of Love

· Mickey was a truly unique soul-genuinely kind, deeply caring, and always ready with a radiant smile and infectious laugh. She loved God, her daughter Trinita A. Blyden, her grandson Shayne A. Persad, and her extended family and friends with fierce devotion. Her spirit touched countless lives, and her memory will continue to inspire those who knew her.

· She is survived by her daughter Trinita, grandson Shayne, and siblings Claudius, Eric, Janice, John, Hugh, Leonice, James, and Perry. She also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws, all of whom she cherished deeply.

· Her Legacy

· Mickey's life can be summed up in three powerful words: Yet she persisted. Through every challenge, she remained steadfast, joyful, and full of grace. Her legacy is one of strength, compassion, and unwavering faith.

· "Praise the Lord!" was her anthem, and it echoes now in the hearts of those she leaves
