Vernon A Finlaw, age 89, of Hannibal, Missouri, passed away on July 2, 2025, surrounded by loved ones and family, peacefully, after being in hospice care.
Vernon Finlaw was born on January 27, 1936, to Maude and Alton Finlaw.
He is survived by: His son Larry Brown, his sisters Evelyn Simpson and Elvira Forman and his brother Louis Williams Sr, many grandchildren and several nieces and nephews whom he cherished dearly. Vernon had many friends and three very special friends Mandy Gray, Stephanie Cunningham, and Jason Pipkin.
He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife Dorothy, second wife Melody, and his son's David and Vernon, stepson Randy and brother Dana
Vernon was known for his kind heart, sense of humor, his love of fishing and hunting, and devotion to family,
He was an Air Force veteran, and retired from the railroad and DURA .
In accordance with his wishes, there will be no formal funeral or memorial service.
The family will honor his memory by spreading his ashes in a place that was meaningful to him at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests a meaningful way to honor him— like buying a milkshake and sitting with someone who needs company, drinking coffee with some friends or just sitting around a fire.
