Donna was born on November 17, 1941, in Superior WI, to Edward and Mary Mason (Oaks).
She is survived by a son Richard Martin; daughters, Jeni Leffert (Jim) of Hannibal, MO, Patricia Williams-Martin; grand children, Justin Leffert (Britney) of Hannibal, MO, Ashley Leffert (Clifford Gibbons) of Hannibal, MO, Ali Leffert (Shawn Bence) of Hannibal, MO, and Nathen Leffert of Hannibal, MO; Seven great-grand children, Bentlee, Harper, Aspyn, Jaxxton, McKynleigh, Kaidyn, Ryleigh, and a baby boy on the way.
She was preceded in death by a son Gary Martin.
Donna came from a large family, the youngest of 10 siblings, spread all around the country. She was born in Superior, Wisconsin. Along her life's travels she passed through California, Oklahoma, and ended up back in Hannibal with family where she spent the rest of her life surrounded by those who loved her.
Donna was considered to be feisty and spunky, a real spitfire! She was blunt and would always tell it like it is. She had a great sense of humor and was known for always having a funny saying for every situation. She loved to watch classic movies like Star Wars, and the Wizard of Oz, TV shows like Murder She Wrote, and her St. Louis Cardinals and the Green Bay Packers. She recently was able to view her final Cardinals game and to her delight they won!
Most of all Donna loved her family. She was an amazing cook and hosted wonderful holiday meals with her family. She was famous for her spaghetti, Turkey on every Thanksgiving, and making cut out Christmas sugar cookies every year with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was known by her great grandchildren as Nan-Nan and she loved spending time with them. She loved a nice Bud Light and had the best luck of anyone around when it came to pull tabs and scratchers. When it came to her family, she was the most happy and proud. She loved playing card games like war, and slapjack, going to the park downtown for picnics and to watch the trains, going on the river boat, and long walks to enjoy the flowers. She loved playing solitaire and games on her tablet in her spare time along with her cross word and word search puzzles. She also had a special place where she took each grandchild to enjoy a soda, or special treat throughout the years. She loved to walk around town and enjoy all our beautiful town had to offer. Some of her favorite events in town to visit were Mud Volleyball and Music Under the Stars. Before retirement in 2011, Donna was an admired CNA in local nursing homes since beginning her career in 1986. She always loved caring for and spreading love to everyone around her.
