Ed Vernon Hollifield, born on August 18, 1939, in McDowell County, NC passed away on December 5, 2024, at Memorial Mission Hospital. He is also preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Katie Biddix Hollifield, and his sister, Edith Poteat.
Throughout his life, Vernon was an accomplished businessman, owning and operating retail shoe stores and a hosiery manufacturing operation. In the later chapters of his career, he transitioned into the role of an income tax accountant, a profession in which he found great fulfillment. A faithful servant of his churches, Vernon dedicated over 50 years of his life as a Deacon and Sunday School teacher at both Nebo First Baptist Church and Turkey Cove Baptist Church. His spiritual contributions left a lasting impact on those who were taught and guided by him.
He leaves behind five beloved family members: his son, William E. Hollifield, of Marion; his son Matthew V. Hollifield, and wife Marnie; and his grandchildren, Andrew E. Hollifield and Lillian M. Hollifield, all of Davidson, NC. They will cherish his memory and the values he instilled in them throughout their lives. Vernon Hollifield will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him, as his legacy of service, love, and unwavering faith continues to inspire those he leaves behind.
