Vernon Winston Lambert, age 55, of
Morehead, Kentucky, went to be with the Lord Monday, December 30, 2024, at his residence after an extended illness.
He was born July 2, 1969, in Morehead, a son of the late Vernon Raymond "Monk" Lambert and Billie Josephine Ellis Lambert. In addition to his parents, he will join his late wife and the mother of his children, Melvina Crum Lambert, in heaven.
Vernon is survived by his children, Nathaniel Tyler Lambert and Christina Dean Lee Lambert, both of Morehead; his wife, Regina Price Lambert and her children, LaTasha Bartley (Jason) of Owingsville, David Howard Caldwell (Rachel) of Owingsville, and Jeffrey Caldwell (Brittany) of Salt Lick; his sister, Tana Donahue of Morehead; and his brother, Robert Elwood Donahue of Hillsboro County, Florida.
Other survivors to cherish his memory include 11 grandchildren, Star and Nathan Caldwell, whom Vernon helped raise, Conner Caldwell, Emily Caldwell, Kamren Caldwell, Ryan Caldwell, Macie Caldwell, and Mallory Caldwell, Karter Bartley, Ryker Bartley, and Breylan Bartley; nieces and nephews, including Mendy Young Perkins (Josh) and Crystal Cooley Hale (Ben); extended family, including his church family, and friends.
Vernon graduated from Rowan County Senior High School and attended Morehead State University and Georgetown College where he earned bachelor's and master's degrees. He also worked as a car salesman for Larry Fannin's Chevrolet prior to his earning his teacher certification. He taught at Simons Middle School, Fleming County High School, and Lakeside Christian Academy, where he taught science and Bible. Above all, Vernon was a man of God whose greatest passion was serving the Lord.
He had been an associate pastor of Bluebank First Church of God and later became pastor of Salt Lick First Church of God. Throughout his pastoral years, Vernon touched the lives of countless people and his ministry will continue to thrive for years to come.
Vernon enjoyed spending time with friends and family. When he wasn't doing the Lord's work, you could bet he was with the boys at Joey's house watching the Cats play on the big screen.
The last few years of his life things changed but his amazing wife Regina tried to fill each day with so much love and happiness it was proof of God's miracles.
