Vernon Moore, 78, of Byram, passed away on December 27, 2024, at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center in Jackson. Visitation will be from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm on Tuesday, December 31, 2024, at Jordan Funeral Home in Kosciusko. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 pm from the Jordan Funeral Home Chapel, with burial in Parkway Cemetery with military honors. Randy Rhodes will officiate the service.
Vernon served his country in the United States Air Force. After his military service, he worked in automobile sales for several years. In 1979 he went to work at Carroll Trucking located in West, Mississippi. Then, in 1985, Vernon and partners started JMS Truck Lines until it was sold in 1993. Finally, Vernon formed his own trucking company called J.A.M. Truck Lines until he had a few health issues and started working at home as an agent for CRST Trucking Company. He was a major classic car enthusiast, loved bass fishing, riding motorcycles, being with his family, and especially being a GRANDAD!
He is survived by his wife, Linda Skeen Moore of Byram, Mississippi; daughter, Leslie Renee Thames of Brandon, Mississippi; brother, Bruce Moore, Sr. of Ocala, Florida; two grandchildren, Kaylee Brooke Loftin and Hunter Barron (Halee) Loftin; two great-grandchildren, Raelynn Loftin and Remington Loftin.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Kernan and Lillian Louise Moore, son, Vernon Alton Moore, Jr., and brother, Kernan “Skip” Moore.
Hunter Loftin, James Bourgeois, Bruce Moore, Jr., West Frazure, Corey Thames, and Jimmy Cockroft will be pallbearers.
