Vern was born May 11, 1951 in Volga to Vernon and Marilyn (Henry) Snyder. He lived on the Snyder homestead north of Sinai until he was 5 years old moving to the Henry homestead south of Arlington. He attended school in Arlington until the 8th grade then moved with his family to Rapid City where he graduated from Rapid City Central High School in 1969.
