Veronica Sue Boydston went home to be with her Lord on February 25, 2025, at 11:04 p.m., surrounded by the love of her family. She was 69 years old and lived a life defined by faith, love, and service.
For 25 years, Sue was a beloved school bus driver for Midland Public Schools, where she not only transported students safely but also brightened their days with her warm heart and legendary tubs of candy. She had a gift for making everyone feel special, and her radiant personality and infectious antics brought joy to all who knew her.
More than anything, Sue was a devoted wife, mother, Nana, sister, aunt and friend. She is survived by her mother, Shirley (Zimmerman) Gillette, loving husband, James Boydston Jr., her son, James Boydston III (Jaclyn Boydston), and her daughter, Jessica Randolph (David Randolph II). She was proud and doting Nana to six amazing grandchildren: Peyton, Emma, Evelyn, Elliana, Sophia, and David. She also leaves behind her dear sisters, Deborah Gehringer, Kathy Schmalbeck, and Carol Bracey, along with many cherished nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her father, George Gillette Jr., her brothers-in-law, Reggie Schmalbeck, Larry Bracey, and Donald Gehringer.
Sue’s faith was the foundation of her life, and if she could leave one final message to the world, it would be this: A life with Jesus is a life well lived. Her legacy of kindness, laughter, and unwavering faith will continue to shine in the lives of those she touched.
She will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
