Verta Lynn Harris, 57, departed this life on New Year's Day, January 1, 2025, after battling a long illness. Ms. Harris was born on March 17, 1967, in Mansfield, Ohio, to the late Mr. Calvin Williams Sr. and Nan Harris.
Verta graduated from Mansfield Senior High in 1986. Verta was very outgoing, she loved to have fun, make others laugh, and she was the life of the party who loved loved to dance. We called her the dancing machine. Because once on the floor she would dance as if she owned it. Verta loved to make up her own dances and the names to go with the dances. Her favorite was the Robot. Verta was a very outspoken person, no sugar-coating type person, she was a “is what it is type person”. It was her most famous saying. She loved unconditionally……whenever you saw Verta she was going to greet you with a smile. And she would never leave without telling you she loves you….Verta loved her family. And Verta loved you. Her son and grandchildren were her life. Some of you may know Verta loved to freestyle (with the Old Skool 80’s flow). If you went to high school with her in the 80s I’m sure you would know. When it came to her family Verta was a Daddy’s girl and her Momma’s Baby. She was very protective of her brother, Calvin and she would call her MY Baby (her Sista) Latonica. She loved the greatest joys in life from the simplest things, such as family gatherings and going fishing with her sister. Verta Loved Life itself.
Verta is survived by her son Arthur Bradley Jr., 5 grandchildren Jamarion. Ar’Von, Journee, Armiya & Alaya Bradley, her mother Nan Harris, Siblings Calvin Jr., & Latonica Harris, stepbrothers David & Wayne Holley; nephews Calvin Harris III, LaBrian Patrick, Ty’Quan Smith, Calvon, Travon & Baron Harris, nieces Keria Hampton Harris, Keisha, Doneeshea & Chaquila Smith, great nieces & nephews Nyez, Dalviyon, LaToiyah, Calvin, Cali, Cai’Von Harris & Ty’Quan Jr. Smith, and a host of Aunts, Uncles & Cousins, 2 special nephews she always said were her babies Calvin Harris III & LaBrian Patrick.
In addition to her father Calvin Williams Sr, Verta was preceded in death by her Paternal grandparents Rowland & Ella Williams Sr, maternal grandparents Booker T. & Katie C. Harris, nephew Dalvin J.L. Harris, step brother Sunny Holley, and special friends James Mitchell & Tonya Bray.
