Vertie Louise McAllister, 94, passed away on Saturday, November 22, 2025, at The Oaks at Windham in Macon. Services will be held on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, with visitation starting at 12:00 PM at Rooks Funeral Home, 109 West White Road in Byron, immediately followed by funeral services at 1:00 PM. A graveside service will be held at 3:00 PM in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery, 4101 Mercer University Drive in Macon. Rev. Ricky Tidwell will officiate.
Born in Macon to the late Henry Frank Folds and Mary Evelyn Parker Folds, Mrs. McAllister was a "stay at home Mom" for her four children while they were young. After they were grown, she went to work as a parapro in the Bibb County School System, mainly at Weir Elementary, enjoying every minute she spent with the students. Mrs. McAllister and her late husband were long time members of Lighthouse Community Church where their church friends became like family to them. She loved her family and looked forward to visits fron her grandchildren. She was known for her baking abilities, especially for her Italian Creme cake. When her husband's health began to fail, she became his loving caretaker.
Survivors include her children, Carla Herbert (Warren), Michael McAllister, and Lisa Yaughn (Jay); grandchildren, April Conkling (Ben), Benjamin Herbert, Ethan Mitchell (Kaelyn), and Sarah Yaughn (Gunnar); and great grandchildren, Easton Mitchell, Ella Mitchell, Owen Conkling, and Emery Louise Yaughn. She is preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Clyde McAllister, their son, Stephen McAllister, grandson, Samuel Herbert, and a brother, Royce Wayne Folds.
The family would like to express their thanks to all the staff at The Oaks at Windham, her caretakers, Margie, Terrie, Renell, and Shonda, and Georgia Hospice Care for their compassion and tender loving care given to Mrs. McAllister.
