Veva Johnson, age 69, of Pembroke passed away on Monday, March 17, 2025 after health complications. Veva was raised and educated in Hough's Neck where she graduated in 1973 from Quincy High School. Her family remained in Hough’s Neck where she visited often. Veva was an active member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary for more than 50 years. It was here she met her husband Eric in 1980 and married him after falling head over heels in love with him after three short months. Veva and Eric lived in Eric’s family home in Weymouth where they spent their 41 years together cultivating countless, fond and fun memories together.
Veva founded Professional Bookkeeping Services in 1980 where she ran a successful bookkeeping business until her retirement in 2024. All of her clients became family. Veva found networking opportunities at the South Shore Women’s Business Network. At the SSWBN, Veva was a board member for many years as well as a past president. It was here she also developed life long friendships. Veva was a true advocate for giving back. She donated her time, skillset and much more to nonprofits and served on the boards for the South Shore Women’s Business Network’s Educational Foundation (later to be called Vital Impact) and The Dianne DeVanna Center for the Prevention of Child Abuse. Veva also became an advocate for seniors, helping them navigate next steps.
Her kindness, generosity and jovial spirit was felt by anyone who was fortunate enough to cross paths with her. Veva loved a good party and was the first to offer to help organize. She went out of her way to help anyone without question, most times extending her work day way beyond reason.
Veva was predeceased by her husband, Eric Johnson, her father, William Darrow, her mother, Veva Darrow and brother-in-law, Tom Timcoe. She is survived by her sister Eileen Timcoe, her sister-in-law, Paula Keith and her husband, Richard, their daughter, Molly, dear friend Eileen Buckley, and her much loved cat, Dottie.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to the visitation for Veva on Sunday, March 23, 2025 from 2-5pm in the C. C. Shepherd Funeral Home located at 134 Pleasant St. (Columbain Sq.) Weymouth, MA. Relatives and friends will gather in the funeral home Monday morning for a funeral service that will begin promptly at 10am. Burial will take place in Holbrook Union Cemetery immediately following the service.
