Vickey Sue Bonat Alexander, affectionately known as Vickey, passed away peacefully in Springfield, MO on October 24, 2023, at the age of 83. Born on October 20, 1940, in Wichita, KS, Vickey was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose life was marked by humor, love, and thoughtful consideration for others.
Vickey was the cherished wife of Ron Alexander. Their enduring union was a testament to their shared values and mutual respect. Vickey's role as a mother was one of her greatest joys. She was the proud mother of Bruce Williams, the late Jim Williams, and Angie Dold. Her legacy continued with her doting grandchildren, Kyle & Marie Drenon, Jake & Zarene Williams, and Wyatt & Maria Williams. Her joy was further amplified with the arrival of her great-grandchildren, Izaak Williams and Cali Williams. Vickey was predeceased by her parents and her sister, Loretta Bodenhamer, and is survived by her sister Carolyn Thornhill. She will be remembered lovingly by a host of family members and friends.
Vickey was a proud graduate of high school. She used her education to carve out a meaningful career as a medical secretary. Vickey's professional life was marked by her diligence, efficiency, and commitment to her role. Her work ethic was admired by her colleagues and will be remembered as an integral part of her legacy.
Outside of her professional life, Vickey was known for her love of spending time with her loved ones. Her home was always open, her table always set, and her laughter always ready. She created a warmth that drew people in and made them feel cherished. Her sense of humor was infectious, and her love for her family was palpable. She had a unique ability to make everyone feel special and loved.
One of Vickey's most admirable qualities was her thoughtfulness. She had a knack for remembering the small details that made each person unique and often used this knowledge to make others feel seen and appreciated. Vickey's thoughtfulness extended beyond her family and friends and was evident in her interactions with everyone she met.
Vickey's life was a testament to her values of love, humor, and thoughtfulness. She touched the lives of many with her kindness, and her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. Her legacy is one of love and laughter, and she will be deeply missed.
As we mourn the loss of Vickey, we also celebrate her life and the joy she brought to those fortunate enough to know her. We remember her not with sadness, but with the laughter, love, and thoughtful gestures that she so freely gave during her time with us. The world is undoubtedly a better place for having had Vickey in it. She will be missed, but her memory will live on in the hearts and minds of her loved ones.
A celebration of Vickey's life will be scheduled in the coming weeks.
