Vicki G Gordon, better known as Vick, Victoria, or Gala to her friends and loved ones, was born on a bright spring day on March 13, 1970 in Charlottesville, VA, USA. On May 12, 2025, she took her leave, leaving behind a world that was distinctly better for her having been in it. As I pen down my own life's journey, I am reminded of a quote by Maya Angelou, "I've learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel." I, Vicki, lived by that sentiment, striving to touch hearts and spread joy through my compassion, humor, and creativity.
Never one to shy away from a challenge, I spent 10 fulfilling years as a Certified Nurse Assistant in Home Care with Innovage Pace. My ambition led me to graduate high school and become a Certified Nursing Assistant, a career that allowed me to channel my compassion and care for others into meaningful work. My clients were not just patients to me, they were family - a testament to my belief that family was what mattered most. And to say that I loved my own family would be an understatement. My mother, Carolyn, my beautiful children, Alexis, Lamar, and Alayna, were my world.
Outside of work, I was a woman of many passions. I loved music and dancing, often being the life of the party with my infectious laughter and vibrant personality. I found solace and joy in bracelet making and painting, creations that were as unique and colorful as I was. Swimming was my therapy, and going on cruises was my adventure. From my birthplace in Charlottesville, to the beautiful landscapes of Barboursville and Gordonsville, VA, I relished in the journey of life with a humor and humility that was truly my own. As I join my father, George Jr., in the eternal dance of life and death, I leave behind a legacy of love, laughter, and resilience.
I, Vicki, lived a life that was not just about achieving but also about giving. I was funny and thoughtful, supportive, smart, loving, and humble. As I look back, I can proudly say that I lived a life full of love and kindness, and I hope that my life has touched yours in some way too. In the words of Ralph Waldo Emerson, "To know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded."
