Richard Gordon Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Rooks Funeral Home - Fort Valley on Mar. 5, 2026.
Richard David "Ricky" Gordon, 66, passed away on Tuesday, March 3, 2026. A visitation will be held on Saturday, March 14, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Rooks Funeral Home, 213 West Church Street, Fort Valley.
Born to the late Eugene and Martha Gordon, Ricky graduated from Peach County High School in 1979. Shortly after graduation, he began working at Blue Bird Body Company, where he remained for more than 45 years before retiring in 2025. He was known as a hard worker and a great friend to many of the people he worked alongside over the years.
Ricky had a deep love for fishing, which played a large role in his decision to move to Lake Sinclair in 2020- fulfilling a goal he had long hoped to achieve before retirement. Above all, Ricky loved his family. He was especially proud of his children and grandchildren and took great joy in their accomplishments.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Leannea Gordon; his children, Chad Gordon and Britney Yochum (Trevor); his granddaughters, Avery and Addison; and his sister, Martha Jean Whitley. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sisters, Regina Tennile and Bonnie Gordon.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that donations be made in Ricky's memory to support fishing and conservation efforts at this link or to the charity of the donor's choice.
Rooks Funeral Home of Fort Valley is in charge of arrangements.
