Vicki Deloris Johnson, a strong and resilient warrior, passed away on October 11, 2023, after a brave and valiant battle with complications from surgery. She was born on July 5, 1959, in Clinton, Arkansas to Bobby Dean and Deloris "Jean" Griggs. Vicki's indomitable spirit and unwavering determination allowed her to conquer both illness and adversity.
Throughout her life, Vicki stood for what she believed in and was always ready to defend those she cared about. Even if she disagreed with you, she would support you wholeheartedly while also providing you with insightful explanations of why she thought differently. To know Vicki was to love her; she left an everlasting impression on all who crossed her path.
Vicki cherished her role as an amazing sister and the coolest aunt. She had an uncanny ability to make friends effortlessly and never met a stranger. Her warm and welcoming nature drew people towards her like moths to a flame. She had a close-knit circle of friends who adored her vibrant personality.
When it came to Vicki's passions, she possessed exceptional culinary skills. Her cooking prowess was unmatched, particularly when it came to her legendary dressing and chocolate cake recipes. No one could resist the tempting aromas that filled her kitchen whenever she prepared a meal for loved ones. Additionally, Vicki was an ardent fan of the Razorbacks; their triumphs brought immense joy to her life.
Vicki found great fulfillment in her relationships with family and friends. Her proudest accomplishments were undoubtedly founded upon the love shared with David Johnson – the person who captured her heart completely. However, Vicki held her daughter, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren close to her heart as well. Their bond was a testament to Vicki's capacity for unconditional love and dedication.
Vicki was preceded in death by her beloved mother, Deloris "Jean" Griggs, and her father, Bobby Dean Griggs.
Left behind to cherish her memory are her husband, David Johnson; daughter, Chrissy Matthews (Jason); grandchildren, Gage Smith (Maddie), Clayton Smith, Kaleb Matthews (Rayea), Landon Matthews; great-grandchildren, Zayden Smith, Riverlynn Page-Lee, Paxton Matthews; sisters, Terri Kinder (Brian), Deana McNeil (Steve); brother Bobby Griggs, as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
In honor of Vicki's remarkable life and the impact she made on those around her, the following services have been arranged. A visitation will take place on October 21st, 2023 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Smith Family Funeral Home Benton located at 322 N Market Street in Benton, Arkansas. This will be followed by a Celebration of Life ceremony at 2:00 PM at the same location.
Vicki Deloris Johnson will forever be remembered as an extraordinary woman who exemplified unwavering strength and an unwavering commitment to her loved ones. Her legacy lives on in the hearts and minds of all who were fortunate enough to know her. May she find eternal peace and may her spirit continue to inspire us all.
Due to Vicki's long, hard fought battle in the hospital and her husband's illness, donations may be made in lieu of flowers to help with costs of arrangements at Smith Benton Funeral Home.
The family would like to thank all the doctors, nurses and healthcare professionals at Baptist Health Medical Center in North Little Rock for all of their care, support, and for going above and beyond.
