Wanda Joyce James of Benton, Arkansas, passed away peacefully on February 4, 2026. She was born on December 17, 1947, in Malvern, Arkansas, to the late Lewis Earl and Dorothy Lucille Chamness.
A graduate of Magnet Cove High School, Wanda dedicated much of her life to caring for others, working as a CNA at Lakewood Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center. She approached her work with compassion, patience, and a gentle touch, always giving comfort and care to those who needed it most.
Wanda married the love of her life, Robert "Bob" James, in 1975, and together they shared a combined 43+ years of faith, love, forgiveness, and devotion. She was a devoted mother to Stephen James, Keith Everett James, and Mary LaDonna James, and a cherished grandmother to Avery Fortner. Her family was the heart of her life, and she treasured every moment spent with them.
Wanda loved the Lord with all her heart and was a member of Cross Roads Missionary Baptist Church. She loved to cook, especially for her family; sew, and collect dolls, dishes, and fabrics—each reflecting her joy, creativity, and eye for beauty. Wanda enjoyed shopping at yard sales and finding treasures to add to her collections. Above all, she loved the Lord with all her heart, living her faith through her care, generosity, and the love she shared with everyone around her.
Wanda will be remembered as a kind, generous, and loving woman whose warmth, devotion, and gentle spirit left a lasting impression on all who knew her.
