Vicki Jo Wilson, 62, passed away on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, at Josie Harper Hospice House after a 6 year battle with lung cancer.
Vicki was born on March 6, 1962, in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, to Jess and JoAnn Zimmerman.
She was preceded in death by her mother, JoAnn Zimmerman, and by her grandparents, Charles and Hazel Schreiner and Bryan and Trilla Zimmerman, and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Vicki graduated from Westside High School in 1980. She married Robert Grimm in 1988 and they had two children, Joshua and Jessica. They lived in a variety of places including Nebraska, Wisconsin, North Carolina, and Oregon. After they divorced, she ended up in Omaha where she held several different jobs. She worked at the Nebraska Medicine Catheter Lab, Covenant Presbyterian Church and Unity Church. She worked hard at whatever job she held and was always a dedicated and loyal employee. She married Steve Wilson in 2001 and divorced in 2008.
Vicki loved her family including her 4 grandchildren and dogs - Anthony Moore, Delainey Oswald, Gunner Grimm, Alex Grimm and dogs Gizmo, Cooper, Mars and Tinkerbell.
Vicki loved to travel to Colorado to the family cabin. She loved the mountains, wildlife and being with friends and family. She loved watching her favorite TV shows like Survivor, Big Brother and The Bachelor, during which she participated in many phone calls with her friend, Diane Thomas. Vicki was blessed with great friends including Diane, Derek Troester, Tod Fye, Scott Stohlman and many, many more.
Vicki is survived by her father, Jess Zimmerman, sister Cindy (Van) Wrenn, son Joshua (Vanessa), daughter Jessica (David), grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held on August 24, 2024, at John A. Gentleman Mortuary - Pacific Street location, at 10:00 a.m. with refreshments and reception following.
In lieu of flowers, Vicki has requested that memorial donations be made to the family to help cover her grandchildren’s continued education. If you wish to make a donation in her memory, please make checks out to Jessica Grimm, and the funds will be invested for their continuing education.
