Vickie Jo Hutton

Vickie Jo Hutton went to her heavenly home on Saturday, January 7, 2023, at the age of 72. Throughout her incredible life, she held an unwavering faith in God, ingraining it deeply into her character and wholeheartedly sharing His love with the world.
Vickie possessed a spirited and poetic nature-passionately driven from deep within her soul-and tenaciously protected those people she held close to her heart.
She was born to Melvin Eugene and Della Jane Barnes on July 24, 1950, in Okmulgee, Oklahoma, and moved to San Antonio, Texas with her family in 1957. Vickie met her husband, James-the love of her life-in 1978 while attending an event at Trinity Baptist Church. They married on October 20, 1979, cultivating this sacred bond for 35 years and having two children together, Chris and Jennifer. In addition to being a dedicated wife and loving mother, Vickie was a doting grandmother to five grandchildren.
She also had an endearing desire to work with children of all ages, spending more than five years as a childcare provider for the Madison Hills Baptist Church Mother's Day Out Program, and 13 years as a school bus driver for the Northeast Independent School District-ultimately retiring from the district in 2012.
Vickie is survived by her son, Chris, and his wife, Tonya; daughter, Jennifer, and her husband, Michael; grandsons, Adam, Neal and Caden; granddaughters, Audrey and Maggie; brother, Geary; sisters, Donna, Deborah and Theresa; brothers-in-law, John and Jeffrey; and 8 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brother-in-law, Arturo, and nephew, Matthew.
The visitation and memorial service will be held on Tuesday, January 17 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Madison Hills Baptist Church, 15413 O'Connor Road, San Antonio, Texas. A graveside service will be held at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery on Wednesday, January 18 at 10:00 a.m. Family and friends are kindly invited to attend.
