Vicky Gail Larsen, 66, of Heber City, Utah, passed away on October 14, 2024. She was born on August 7, 1958 in Silver Spring, Maryland. Vicky has been a beloved daughter, wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, caregiver, and friend.
Vicky has always been a fighter. From the start of her life, she had a deformed hip and was told she would be confined to a wheelchair. Her parents were able to find a doctor that was willing to try and use screws to correct the problem. She made a full recovery and despite countless other health issues in her life, she has been an adventure seeker, and refused to let her ailments slow her down.
When she was seventeen, she married John Larsen, and together they had two children Wendy Ann and Jason Roger. She involved them in lots of different programs as they grew up. She belonged to the Millian Methodist Church for many years and participated in their puppet ministry and handbell choir. She ended up playing in handbell choirs for thirty five years between living in Maryland and Utah. She was so excited to find the Swiss Bell Ringers after moving to Utah so she could continue her cherished pastime.
Vicky was a friend to all. She would go to the park with her family and walk right up to someone she didn't know and make a connection. We always wondered how she could do that. She just had a gift for talking to anyone and instantly becoming friends. Her lifelong friends have remained by her side and now live all over the world. Their memories and encouraging words they have shared over the last year, and especially this last week, have been a great support and blessing to her.
She earned her early childhood teaching degree and loved working with children of all ages. She taught preschool and story times, and was blessed with various opportunities to teach and serve the children in church throughout her life. She was also a caregiver to her friend, Ryder for many years and they shared a very special connection.
In 1993 she was baptized and became a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints with her two children and a year later, went to the Washington D. C. Temple and was sealed to her family for time and all eternity.
In 2006, she and her husband moved to Utah with hopes that the drier air would alleviate some of her asthma symptoms that she had been suffering from for over ten years. The move to Utah did help and she was able to stay active doing all the activities she loved including fishing, riding four wheelers, and her Honda Talon all over the mountains and sand dunes. She also loved going back to visit her family and friends in Maryland as often as she could.
Her favorite place to visit was the big island of Hawaii where she liked to take drives around the island, swim, and snorkel. She had many beautiful experiences there. Her favorite thing to do in Utah was to be with her grandchildren and she shared a close relationship with each one.
She is survived by her mother, Gail Isner; husband, John Larsen; daughter, Wendy Ann (Gary) Spencer; son, Jason Roger Larsen; and grandchildren, Tyler, Abby, James, and Alex. She is preceded in death by her father, William Duane Isner and brother, Edward Duane Isner.
John 3:16, For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Vicky was my sister of another mother. I'm so sad for her passing, but so glad she will no longer be suffering. We talked and texted often, even thought I'm in Maryland and she was in Utah. We always visited when either of us was in the other's state. I'm so sorry I couldn't be there to support her Utah family during this special time. However, I knew she had many friends there to support them. She easily made friends where ever she went. She tried to visit with all her closest friends and family when she and John were in Maryland each June. But, there was never enough time. We understood and were grateful when who had a little time for us. Spending time with her family came first. I was blessed, along with EJ Storrs, to visit with her and John in July for lunch and an afternoon of just being friends, remembering old times and hearing their future plans for another exciting adventure. I was always shocked to see her doing what I considered dangerous things on Facebook. She made even fishing seem exciting. I will always miss her.

Sorry to hear about the passing of Vicky but aware of her health difficulties over several years. I remember Vicky as always happy and friendly and willing to help in any way she could. We loved visiting her and John and Wendy in Heber and especially loved her trips to see her mother and family in Rockville, MD. The picture with the obituary portrays her as she was, beautiful, smiling, and happy, always wiling to be a friend, mother and grandmother. We are blessed to know that she will live on in eternity.
