Mrs. Vicky Lynn Skow, 72, of Chatsworth, Illinois, passed away at 10:23 pm on Wednesday, July 9, 2025 peacefully surrounded by family at OSF St. Francis Medical Center.
Vicky was born on April 1, 1953, in Purcell, Oklahoma, to Gary and Louise (Swaffert) Harryman. After moving to Iowa, she attended Central Lee High School, where she met her husband, Rickard G. Skow. The two later married and built a beautiful life together, raising five children.
Vicky was a devoted Christian whose faith shaped every part of her life. She was known for her warmth, her generosity, and her incredible homemade baked goods. Whether she was sewing something by hand or tending to her garden, Vicky poured love into all she did. But more than anything, she cherished her role as a mother and grandmother. One of her favorite Bible verses, "Suffer not the little children," reflected the deep love she had for the youngest among her family.
Vicky is survived by her beloved husband, Richard Skow; her five children, Rick (Susan) Skow of North Liberty, IA; Robert (Kris) Skow of Sparland, IL; Russell (Karla) Skow of Shelbyville, KY; Rebecca (Roy) Evanovich of Iowa City, IA; and Rachel (Josh) Cope of Ridgeville, SC; 25 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Vicky, was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Robert and Larry Harryman.
A celebration of her life will be held at Faith Baptist Church of Bourbonnais, IL on Tuesday, July 15, 2025 at 11 am, with a visitation beginning at 10am. Pastor Terry Anglea will officiate.
Simons Mortuary is in charge of the arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honor Vicky by baking something for someone you love or planting something beautiful in your garden - just as she would have done.
