It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Victor K. Brown, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother-in-law, uncle, and friend, who unexpectedly left us on December 11, 2024, at the age of 84. Vic was born on June 5, 1940, in the Bronx, New York, to his loving parents, Pauline and Leon Brown.
Vic's life was defined by love, service, and devotion. He served his country as a Military Policeman in the Army National Guard. He met Brenda, the love of his life, during his freshman year at Rutgers University. After six years of courtship, they married and spent 61 beautiful years together, building a family and a legacy rooted in deep affection and mutual respect. They settled in New Milford, NJ, where Vic became a respected figure in the community-as a town prosecutor, an elected councilman, and a coach to numerous youth sports teams, shaping the lives of young people through his leadership and example. As a longtime member of the Lions Club, Vic led numerous charitable initiatives over the years.
A solo practitioner attorney for most of his professional life, Vic dedicated his time to helping others. His passion for his work kept him from fully retiring, and he continued to serve in a semi-retired capacity until his final days.
Above all, Vic was a family man. He cherished the time spent with his wife, children, and grandchildren. He found joy in the simple pleasures of life: dancing with Brenda, fishing, solving crossword puzzles, playing poker with friends, and cheering on his beloved New York Jets and Mets. He also enjoyed quiet moments of relaxation with his favorite cigar, always appreciating the serenity of those moments.
Those who had the privilege of knowing Vic often speak of his kindness, generosity, warmth, sense of humor, and the ever-present twinkle in his eye. A true gentleman, he had a unique ability to make others feel welcome, valued, and seen. He was always ready to offer a helping hand, and his legacy of selflessness will be carried forward by all who knew him.
Vic was preceded in death by his parents, Pauline and Leon, and his sister, Celia Wurtenberg.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Brenda; his son Michael and wife Caroline Brown; his son Douglas and beloved partner Francine Levinson; his daughter, Jody; his cherished grandchildren, Tyler and Erica; and his brother- and sister-in-law, Lewis and Carol Schnapp. He also leaves behind a vast circle of family and friends whose lives were touched by his love and kindness.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, December 15, 2024 at 12:30 pm at Robert Schoem's Menorah Chapel (W-150 Rte 4, Eastbound side, Paramus, NJ 07652).
