Mr. Victor “Vic” Elwood Eicher, 93 of Johannesburg, Michigan died peacefully at his home on June 15, 2025. He was born in Toledo, Ohio on July 16, 1931. Vic married Helen Marie Eddy, April 6, 1953 and raised three sons in Troy/Royal Oak, Michigan. Vic was a proud veteran of the United States Army and served in the Korean War. He was a member of American Legion Post 198. In 1966 the family purchased some land on Traverse Lakes, Michigan and began building a family cottage. Years of memories have been made in the Northwoods at the cabin. Vic was an automotive engineer working first at Chrysler, then at Ford (Dearborn) for 30 years before his retirement in 1992. He enjoyed working with tools and anything that had a motor. When his sons were younger, he served as a Boy Scout leader and supported scouting in many capacities. During these years he was a member of the Modern Mariners church group which enjoyed the Road Rally and playing Bridge. Vic loved cars, especially the “2005 Vic-tang.” Vic loved to tell stories, the details of which always included the make, model and year of the car that was being driven at the time. When not at work, or volunteering, Vic could be found on the golf course. After Helen’s passing, Vic married Ann Bridges in 2004. Together they moved to Traverse Lakes where they have lived an active social life together for the past 21 years. During this time Vic was a trustee at Lewiston Community Church (formerly Congregational United Church of Christ), Chairman of Missions in Social Action, a docent at the Discovery Center at Pigeon River Country State Forest while continuing to enjoy family, friends, golf, wine, and cars. Vic loved well and was well-loved. He is and will be dearly missed.

Vic is remembered by his loving wife, Ann Eicher; sons, Kenneth (Ann) Eicher; Robert (Sue Ann) Eicher; Douglas (Victoria) Eicher; grandchildren, Karl (Jodi), Kim (Jeff), Analiese, Aaron (Chloe), Zach (Ana), James (Kalie), Leah (Ben), and Naomi; great-grandchildren, Liam, Megan, Michael, Miles, and Lucas. He was preceded in death by his parents, Virgil and Helen Eicher; and first wife, Helen Marie.

In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place. There will be a memorial held in celebration of his life at 11:00 AM on Saturday, July 5, 2025 at the Lewiston Community Church, Lewiston; Pastor Dave Engel officiating. Visitation will take place from 10:00 AM until time of service with a luncheon following. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Vic to the following organizations; the Discovery Center at Pigeon River Country State Forest, www.pigeonriverdiscoverycenter.org/donate, Hospice of Michigan, www.hom.org/donations, and Lewiston Community Church, PO Box 282, Lewiston, Michigan 49756.
