Victor D. Herring, 56, of Bolton, Connecticut, passed away peacefully at home on July 12, 2025. He was born November 5th, 1968, in Manchester, CT, to James Barkley and Pamela (Ahlf) Herring. Vic was a lifelong Connecticut resident who graduated from Bolton High School in the class of 1987. He went on to earn his degree in Environmental Biology from the University of Connecticut, graduating summa cum laude - a proud achievement that reflected his deep curiosity about the world and his drive to succeed.
After high school, Vic's adventurous spirit led him to travel to many places, including Hawaii, where he lived for seven months. When he made his way back to Connecticut, he attended UConn and later began his career as a claims adjuster with Zürich insurance - although he soon found his true calling working with his hands. A skilled carpenter and jack-of-all-trades, Vic worked for many years at Duncaster and also ran his own business, where he poured his heart into every project, always willing to help neighbors, friends, and family with whatever they needed.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Lucy Herring, and his loving mother, Pamela Herring. He was predeceased by his father, James Barkley Herring; his brother Jimmy Herring; and his stepfather Bill Keever. Vic was a proud and supportive father to Selena Nicol and her husband, John, Denise Ridel and her husband, Richard, and Taylor Dederer and her husband, Michael - as well as his grandchildren River, Emery, Flora, Asher, Nova and Crew, who were the light of his life. He cherished every moment with them.
Despite Vic's health challenges, he always found a way to keep busy tinkering around. He will always be our King Cat and the memories he left us with will be cherished forever.
Relatives and friends are invited to the John F. Tierney Funeral Home, 219 West Center St. in Manchester for calling hours on Saturday, July 19th from 1:00 to 3:00pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to (The Connecticut Coalition for Organ and Tissue Donation) To plant a beautiful memorial tree in memory of Victor, please visit our Tree Store.
