Edward F. Maher, 89, of Hartford passed away unexpectedly at Hartford Hospital on October 19, 2025. Born in 1936 to the late Harold and Beatrice (Miscavich) Maher and beloved husband of Susan (Lindquist) Maher for 52 years. He grew up in Manchester, CT, graduated from Manchester High School and the University of Connecticut Phi Beta Kappa, Sigma Pi Sigma. Edward was a lab technician for the University of Hartford for many years until retirement, before that he worked in the Naval Ordinance Laboratory in Silver Springs Maryland. He loved to read and could always be found in the library. Edward was known for being an extrovert, making friends and making conversation with anyone he could. He also enjoyed sailing and had his own small boat he would take on the Long Island Sound.
Edward leaves behind his beloved wife Sue Maher, brother-in-law Dale and his wife Marion Lindquist, and his cherished niece Kirsten and her husband Noriel Flores, his nephew John and wife Melissa Lindquist, and his four great nieces and nephew. He is predeceased by his brother George Maher and sister Harriet "Evelyn" McGuire.
All are invited to Edward's funeral service on Saturday, November 22nd at 11:00 a.m. at Emanuel Lutheran Church, 311 Capitol Ave, Hartford.
