Donald Francis Mordavsky, M.D., age 78, of South Windsor, beloved husband of Gail (Archambault) Mordavsky, died peacefully on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, at Salmon Brook Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Glastonbury.
He was born in Manchester, CT on September 29, 1947, son of the late Frank A. and Bernice M. (Yankowski) Mordavsky. He grew up in Manchester and was a graduate of Manchester High School, Boston College and the UConn School of Medicine.
A devoted and compassionate pediatrician, Donald dedicated his entire career to caring for children and their families. He started his own practice Kids Station Pediatrics in Manchester and retired in 2016 after 40 years of practice. In addition to his clinical work, Donald supported medical education through the UConn School of Medicine, where he mentored future physicians with kindness, patience, and encouragement.
Deeply committed to his community, Donald served for many years as a volunteer firefighter with the Manchester North End Fire Department. He was also a longtime member of the Knights of Columbus and proudly volunteered with the Boy Scouts of America for more than 30 years, serving as a mentor and leader to countless young people.
He cherished time spent outdoors, especially fishing with his father and brother, and enjoyed time spent with his family at Lake Winnipesaukee, New Hampshire. He will be remembered for his passion for model trains and his love of the New York Yankees.
Donald leaves behind a legacy of love in his wife of over 54 years, Gail; his children Michael Mordavsky and his wife Kristen of Vernon, Jennifer Ibrahim and her husband Sherief of Horsham, PA, and Amanda Caleb and her husband Christopher of Dallas, PA. He was the proud and devoted grandfather of Sabrina Ibrahim, Zachary Ibrahim, Sophie Mordavsky, Michael Mordavsky, Joseph Mordavsky, Gabriel Caleb, and Eleanor Caleb, each a light in his heart. He is also survived by his sister Donna Johnson and her husband David of Enfield; his sister-in-law, Audrey Mordavsky of Manchester; a nephew and many nieces; and his loving and faithful companion, Sparky. He was predeceased by his brother, David Mordavsky.
His family will receive friends for calling hours on Monday, November 17, 2025, from 5-8pm at the Samsel & Carmon Funeral Home, 419 Buckland Rd., South Windsor. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, at 10 a.m. at St. Margaret Mary Church, 80 Hayes Rd., South Windsor (please meet directly at the church). Burial will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery in Vernon.

Yesterday

Gail and family. So sorry to hear about Doc's passing. May he rest in peace. Thoughts come to mind of all the years we spent with activities with the Boy Scouts. Many great memories. Our troop trip to the Grand Canyon with the scouts and our St. John vacation in the Virgin Islands. He was always fun. In our thoughts and prayers for alll of you during this difficult time. Maxine and Gerry Levasseur.
