Michael Thomas Kozik

Michael Thomas Kozik, 75, of South Windsor, beloved husband of Patricia M. Staszko Kozik, died peacefully on Monday, November 10, 2025, at home. Michael was born in Holyoke, MA, on June 9, 1950, son of the late Edwin and Wanda (Kowalewski) Kozik. He grew in Chicopee, MA, was a graduate of Chicopee Comprehensive High School, Holy Cross College in Worcester, MA and in 1976 he earned a Law Degree from Georgetown University.
Michael held a variety of private and public attorney positions and retired as the Director of Elections for the State of Connecticut at the Connecticut Secretary of State's Office in 2009.
Following his retirement, he taught intro to law courses as an adjunct professor at Manchester Community College and Southern Connecticut State University.
Michael spent his later years doing whatever he loved best, working as a docent at Mystic Seaport and for the last 7 years at the New England Air Museum.
He leaves his wife of over 47 years, Patricia Staszko Kozik, his son, Benjamin Kozik and his husband Larry Blumhagen who live in San Francisco, CA, and his daughter, Rachel Kozik and her husband Stephen Winters who live in Chapel Hill, NC.
Over the years he has provided a safe and doting home to a myriad of wonderful, rescued animals including dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, gerbils and frogs.
His family will receive friends for calling hours on Friday, November 14, 2025, from 4-6pm at the Samsel & Carmon Funeral Home, 419 Buckland Rd., South Windsor.
