Dorian Scabich Obituary

Dorian Scabich
Dorian (Blessing) Scabich, 78, of South Windsor, loving wife of Richard A. Scabich, died peacefully on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, at The Residence in South Windsor. Dori was born in Hartford, CT, on October 25, 1947, daughter of the late Raymond and Marie Alice (Renaud) Blessing.
Dori grew up in Enfield and graduated from Our Lady of the Angels Academy, then joined the Felician Sisters convent and taught on Staten Island. She married the love of her life, Rich, on August 28, 1971, and they made their home in South Windsor for more than 50 years. Dori trained bank tellers at Society for Savings in Hartford before raising her three children. She received a degree in elementary education at Central Connecticut State University, where she also earned a master's in reading education.
Dori devoted her life to teaching, primarily at Hockanum School in East Hartford, as well as substitute teaching in South Windsor Public Schools. She especially enjoyed sharing her love of bald eagles with students.
She was an active parishioner of St. Junipero Serra Parish, St. Margaret Mary Church, where she volunteered on the Liturgy Committee and as a greeter. Dori enjoyed extensive travels with Rich, watching local theater, gardening, and sharing cherished time with her granddaughter. Her lifetime of service to others and the impact she left will long be remembered, and she will be dearly missed.
Along with her husband of 54 years, Dori leaves her children, Jonathan Scabich of East Windsor, Carrie Concatelli and her husband Andrew of Bolton, and Jason Scabich and his fiancée Melissa Mueller of Minneapolis, MN; her beloved granddaughter, Alyssa Concatelli; her siblings, Deborah Blessing of Washington, DC, Raymond Blessing of Maynard, MA, Mark Blessing and his wife Deborah of Wellesley, MA, and Lisa Proctor and her husband Mike Trottier of Narragansett, RI; her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Robert and Janice Skabic of Lansing, MI, and Aileen and Richard Lively of Moundsview, MN; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Calling hours are Monday, February 9, 2026, from 4-7 p.m., at the Samsel & Carmon Funeral Home, 419 Buckland Rd., South Windsor. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, 10 a.m., meeting directly at St. Junipero Serra Parish, St. Margaret Mary Church, 80 Hayes Rd., South Windsor.
