Victor John Kutsch, devoted husband of Joanne for 52 years, beloved Father of seven sons, passed away peacefully in the early morning of May 13, 2025
He is survived by their sons, Jeffrey (Marie), Anthony (Charlotte), Michael (Ami), Nicholas (Laura), Kenneth (Suzanne), Christopher, and Victor (Tricia); 13 grandchildren, Matthew, Lynn, Valerie, Rosalyn, Eli, Eric, Max, Michael, Andrew, Zachary, Sammy, Maya, and Chloe; one great-grandson Malachi; Sisters Rita(Dave) Osterberger of East Dubuque Illinois and Mary Huber of Houston, Texas; his nieces and nephews; and countless friends.
Victor was born June 5, 1935 in Dubuque, Iowa to the late Edward and Mildred Kutsch and grew up in Dubuque.
He attended Loras Academy, and went on to study Physics at Loras College. After graduation in 1958, Victor moved to Washington D.C to take a engineering position at the Naval Research Laboratory. He would spend the next 40 years at NRL developing airborne electronic countermeasures that saves thousands of lives. Victor's career afforded many opportunities for domestic and foreign travel, allowing him to develop lifelong friendships on several continents.
On November 28, 1959, he married Joanne Zimmerman. They resided in Temple Hills, Maryland for 21 years where they raised their sons before moving to Prince Frederick, Maryland for 18 years. They moved to Elizabeth, Colorado in 2004. Joanne and Victor celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary in November 2011. Victor lost his beloved Joanne in December 2011. In 2018 he moved to Lincoln Meadows Senior Living.
Victor was very devoted to his family and supportive of all their endeavors. As avid dog lovers, Victor and Joanne were engaged in many aspects of dog breeding, showing, and training. Victor and Joanne were a founding member of the Southern Maryland Dog Training Club and a members of the Pembroke Welsh Corgi Club of the Potomac, Denver Foothills Tracking Association, and Belgian Sheepdog Club of America. Victor could often be found supporting club activities and dog shows. He spent much of his married life building dog training equipment for Joanne, and became knows as a wizard with PCV pipe.
Victor loved fishing, and passed that love on to his sons. He belonged to a fishing club in southern Maryland, and often took his family for weekend outings, BBQs, or overnight camping trips. He was a great father, and relished providing new experiences and skills for his sons, ranging from archery, camping, rocketry, boating, flying model aircraft, photography, mechanics or boy scouts. He found ways to incorporate family vacations when on work trips to Solomon's island, Maryland in Chincoteague, Virginia.
Be it Euchre, pinochle, of cribbage, He enjoyed playing cards every day with his wife and whenever possible with his sons. Many a long evening was spent playing cards, telling stories, and laughing with family around the dining room table.
Victor was a devout Catholic. He was a member of the Assumption Parish in Washington, DC, St. Ignatius Parish in Oxon Hill, Maryland, St. Francis de Sales in Benedict, Maryland, Jesus the Divine Word in Calvert County, Maryland, and Our Lady of the Visitation Parish in Kiowa, CO. While a parishioner at Our Lady of Visitation, he Joined the Knights of Columbus.
Singing was a lifelong passion. Victor joined the High Plains Singers in Colorado and the Lincoln Meadows Meadowlarks, and the choir of every parish in which he belonged.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, June 5, 2025, 10:30 a.m., at Our Lady of the Visitation Catholic Church, 34201 County Road 33 in Kiowa. Burial will be at Queen of Heaven Cemetery. A Rosery recitation will take place at 10:00 a.m. at the church. There will be a reception at the church after the service.

Vic was a valued member of our rosary group. He often opened his home for our gatherings. Even after he moved to Lincoln Meadows, he shared his faith with many. He is remembered with Love and Prayers, Joan and Bill Cote'

Sorry for your loss. "Vic" was how his cousin, my Mom, Anne Lassance Kiss, affectionately referred to him when telling us boys stories about growing up in Iowa. Eternal rest grant unto him , oh Lord. May he rest in peace.
