JoAnn Cugini Levesque, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away on September 29, 2025, surrounded by her loving family, at the age of 77.
JoAnn was born February 9, 1948, on Staten Island, New York, the daughter of the late Daniel and Marie (née Perosi) Cugini. She was preceded in death by her brother, Christy Cugini, and sister, Jennie Laino.
She graduated from Curtis High School on Staten Island and later earned a Nursing Degree from Staten Island Community College, working as a Registered Nurse early in her career.
JoAnn married Raymond Levesque on December 29, 1973, at Fort Hamilton Army Base in Brooklyn, New York, after meeting while working together at The Marine Hospital. They shared more than 51 years of marriage, filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories.
She always had an entrepreneurial spirit, pursuing many business ventures with creativity and determination. Later, she found a new calling in education, spending 20 years with Littleton Public Schools and leaving a lasting impact on her colleagues and the students she cared for.
JoAnn was the life of the party, never missing a chance to celebrate and always the first to respond to an invitation. She loved lighthearted fun at the penny slots, discovering new restaurants, and sharing her passion for cooking with her family and gourmet group. Her love for Italian food, along with the timeless music of Frank Sinatra and the Rat Pack, reflected her joyful spirit and love of good company.
Some of JoAnn’s favorite memories include sharing recipes and teaching her grandchildren how to cook, embarking on adventurous trips with family and friends, and hosting holidays that filled her home with laughter, the aroma of Italian cooking, and even the occasional round of Frank Sinatra trivia intertwined with family history. She made every gathering brighter and created lasting memories that will be treasured by all who knew her.
JoAnn was a devoted member of Our Lady of Loreto Catholic Parish, where she generously gave her time and talents. She organized meal services for the priests and volunteered, always serving with a warm smile and a generous heart. Her commitment to her faith and community reflected the same care, energy, and joy she brought to every part of her life.
She is survived by her loving husband, Raymond; daughter, Marie (Matthew); sons, Raymond II (Susan), Jonathan, and Matthew (Ashley); and seven grandchildren. JoAnn’s greatest pride and joy was her family, creating a palpable love that will carry on for generations. She enjoyed attending all of her grandchildren’s events, always cheering them on with love and pride. At home, she was best known for her warmth and hospitality, especially her delicious holiday meals that brought loved ones together around her table.
