Eugene "Gene" Postlewate Obituary

We celebrate the long and full life of Eugene Burton(Gene/Geno/Sonny) Postlewate whose limitless generosity, spirit of adventure, and unfailing wit touched his family and a wide circle of friends and neighbors. Born in San Antonio, Texas on February 3, 1934, into humble beginnings, he left us on Sunday, September 21, 2025, at the age of 91. He was the loving and devoted husband of Susan Postlewate, father to Laurie Postlewate (Chuck) and Mark Postlewate (Cathy), grandfather of Evan, Will and Claire, and brother to Morris, Marie, Charles and Dorothy.

An avid aviator, Gene’s career began as an airline mechanic. Over the years he earned numerous certifications and rose from flight engineer to chief pilot. He loved to fly and explore all the corners of the globe. After a long and successful airline career, he retired from Continental Airlines.

In addition to traveling and spending time with friends and family, Gene enjoyed a wide range of hobbies including dominoes, cribbage and poker, beekeeping, gardening, and woodworking.

With his faith as the driving force of his life, Gene was an active member of the Colorado Community Church in Aurora, where he was a dedicated volunteer.

Gene was an endless source of love, joy and laughter and he will live on in our memory.
