Greetings from the great beyond! Victor Maxwell here, just popping in to let you know that I've gone on to my eternal reward. As Solomon said in Ecclesiastes 3:1-2, "To everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under heaven: A time to be born, and a time to die." And now, it seems, it's my time.
I was born on October 2, 1939, in Lindley, NY, to Walter and Victoria Maxwell. I spent most of my life in Corning, NY, where I made my home with my beautiful wife, Betty. We were married on February 19, 1972, and together we raised our three wonderful children, Ronald, Michael and Elizabeth. I was blessed with a loving, funny, loyal, and witty family. I was the first student enrolled in Corning Community College and later was always proud of my involvement in the Corning Christian Academy. During the 1960s, I enjoyed being an announcer for the Woodhull Raceway and in the 70's I was active in the Gideons and the prison ministry. Then I spent over 35 years working at Corning Building Company, most recently in the position of outside sales coordinator, where I loved my work family almost as much as my own. In my free time, I enjoyed working on projects in my shop. I also treasured time with my family: trips with Betty and cruises with brother-in-law Harry and wife, Judy; pier fishing trips with my brother-in-law Don and wife, Lori; cooking with my daughter; doing construction projects with my sons, and spending time with my amazing grandchildren; all of whom I am very proud.
My faith was important to me, and I served for many years as a trustee at Victory Highway Wesleyan Church. I loved my Victory family and enjoyed working alongside them throughout the years. I was honored to help the church in any way I could. In the words of Matthew 25:23, the Lord said, "Well done, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your Lord."
As I embark on this new adventure, I leave behind my loving wife Betty; son, Ronald and his wife Aurie with their six children, Ian, Abigail, Andrew, James, Peter and Rachel; son, Michael and his wife, Kim and daughter, Sylvia; and daughter, Elizabeth. I am preceded in death by my parents, Walter and Victoria Maxwell and brother, Walter Jr.
Please share your memories and upload photos of our time together to my memorial page. I look forward to seeing all the love and laughter we shared. Until we meet again, my friends!
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Victory Highway Wesleyan Church, 150 Victory Highway, Painted Post, NY 14870 for church missions or to Corning Christian Academy, 11 Aisne Street, Corning, NY 14830.
A memorial service will be held at Victory Highway Wesleyan Church on June 5, 2023 at 11AM.
My care was entrusted care to Haughey Funeral Home, Inc. www.haugheyfuneralhome.com.
