Victor Pacheco Sr.

Victor Pacheco Sr. passed away peacefully to be with the Lord on March 2, 2025, with his family by his side. He was born on March 6, 1937, in Las Cruces, New Mexico, to Julian and Patrocinia (Sanchez) Pacheco.
Victor married Annie Gonzales, who tragically passed away in a car accident shortly after their marriage, with an unborn child. Soon after, Victor met Loyola Louise Martinez at the bowling alley in Sunnyside. He once said, "Once I kissed her, I knew she would be my wife." Victor married Loyola on July 6, 1957. They made their home in Sunnyside, Utah, where they raised their six sons and three daughters. Later, they moved to South Jordan City to be closer to their children and grandchildren.
Victor was a golden glove boxer and was highly skilled in the sport. He also had a passion for crafts and enjoyed making everything from paper plate holders, bird houses, building floats for every parade, holiday decorations and so much more. Many of his creations can be found in his hometown of East Carbon.
Dad worked tirelessly in the coal mines (mostly at Kaiser Steel where he retired), holding three jobs at once to support his nine children. He never missed a sporting event for any of his kids and even served as a baseball coach for his sons "Mighty Mighty Merchant" team. When funds were tight, he would collect copper, steel, or anything he could find to help provide for his family's needs, whether it was for a prom dress, a bike, or something else.
As his children grew older, he would often travel to the "City" to visit his kids and grandchildren, never missing a birthday party or special event.
Victor's greatest joy was his beloved wife, Loyola. After her passing, the loneliness was overwhelming for him, and he always said that he never deserved her. He cherished dancing with her and spent countless nights on the dance floor, along with enjoying cozy movie nights watching the Hallmark Channel and traveling on adventures, from camping trips to cruises.
Victor dedicated much of his time to volunteering in his community and was an active parishioner at Good Shepherd Catholic Church. He served as a Lector, Eucharistic Minister, helped with BINGO, assisted with funeral dinners alongside his wife, and was a member of the Knights of Columbus including serving a term as the Grand Knight. In 2009, he and his wife were honored as the Grand Marshals of the Cinco de Mayo celebration.
Victor is survived by his eight children: Melissa Shultzabarger, Bernadette Greff, Eddie (Susan), Victor Jr. (Lori), Jeffrey Sr. (Sherrie), Alan, Richard (Paula), and Theresa Trujillo (Angelo); 23 grandchildren; over 29 great-grandchildren; his sisters, Linda Perales and Isabelle Soria; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, his parents, his son Philip Eugene Pacheco, grandsons Brad Victor Martin Pacheco, Anthony James Pacheco, and Victor Pacheco III, and his siblings Raymond Pacheco, Joe Pacheco, Tommy Pacheco, Alejandro Pacheco, Julian Pacheco, and recently his sister Concha Montoya.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, March 8, 2025, 11:00 a.m., at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 201 Center Street in East Carbon City. A Rosary will be held one hour prior to the Mass at 10:00 a.m. Committal service will follow at the East Carbon City Cemetery. The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to everyone who came to visit and offer comfort during this difficult time, as well as the staff at Ability Hospice for the loving care and support they provided to Victor and the entire family.
