Victor Raymond Perez

With deep sadness I say goodbye to my beloved husband of 48 years, Victor Raymond "Doc" Perez. Vic passed away peacefully at home at the age of 83 on July 23, 2025. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother in-law, uncle, and cherished friend, Vic's warmth, humor, and gentle strength touched all who knew him.

Vic was my best friend and soul mate. Moving from the San Francisco area we found our forever home in Juneau in 1980, loving its beauty and community, the peaceful quiet and quality of life. Together, we built a life full of love and laughter, shared joys and sorrows. We created a lifetime of treasured memories that I will cherish forever.

Vic's kindness, quick wit, and unshakable loyalty were felt deeply by those who met him. He had a special gift for making others feel welcome, and his stories, laughter, and strong steady presence will be profoundly missed.

In earlier years Vic found his greatest joy on the water, fishing and sharing his love of Alaska with family, friends and visitors. In later years, Vic enjoyed playing his favorite pull-tabs and swapping stories with other "regulars."

A proud veteran, Vic first served as an Air Force medic and later answered the call again by joining the Navy. He served with great pride as a company corpsman with the 3rd Battalion, 5th Marines, 1st Marine Division in Vietnam from 1966 to 1967. "Doc" was most proud of that service and maintained lifelong bonds with fellow corpsmen and "his Marines."

Vic's love extended beyond people to the animals he cherished. A friend to every stray, he found companionship and comfort in his rescued companions. His beloved rescue pups, "the girls Rosie and Lucy", were at his side while others who had gone before were no doubt waiting for him at journey's end.

I am beyond grateful that he was by my side through our incredible journey, with his unconditional love and support. Although he may be gone from this world, his legacy lives on in the people he touched. We carry his memory with us and it brings me comfort to know that so much of him is alive in family and friends.

I want to express my deep gratitude for the care and compassion shown by Dr. Haddock, the team at Family Practice, the Bartlett Infusion crew, and the Hospice staff who supported Vic during his final days.

Our family will gather at a later date to put Vic to rest at the Shrine of St. Therese.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Vic's memory to Juneau Animal Rescue, Cancer Connection, the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center, or a charity close to your heart.
