MAPLETON – Victor A. Winslow, 85, died on September 23, 2025, surrounded by his loving wife and family.

Victor was born in Presque Isle on February 5, 1940, the son of the late Alvin and Addie (McIntire) Winslow. Victor graduated from Mapleton High School in 1959 and the two-year agricultural program at University of Maine in 1961 before serving six years in the Maine National Guard where he earned the rank of Sergeant.

After completing training and active-duty service, Victor returned to Mapleton to join the family dairy and potato farm. He married Gloria J. Monteith on December 31, 1964, at the Caribou Baptist Church and they had a rewarding and eventful life together filled with family, friends, and the joys of raising eight sons.

Victor farmed and worked in potato sales for various companies including Maine Farmers Exchange, Maine Potato Growers, and Tri Winner Irving. He was involved in several potato industry-related business ventures including Crown Equipment, Aroostook Starch, and CANUSA Foods. He also started and ran a trucking business for many years. Victor was an active supporter and member of the Central Aroostook Young Farmers Association, local 4-H, the Maine 4-H Foundation, Maine FFA, and he served as a Trustee of the Eastern States Exposition in Massachusetts.

Victor was respected in his community for his integrity, hard work, optimism, passion for agriculture, and unwavering dedication to his family. His happiest moments were working alongside family members whether it be farming, trucking, showing at the fair, restoring and displaying antique farm equipment, organizing the annual family Thanksgiving gathering at the snowmobile club, or continuing the tradition of quarrying flagstone on the family farm. In 2022 the Maine Potato Board selected the Victor Winslow family for the Maine Potato Industry Recognition Award for its outstanding commitment and support of the Maine potato industry.

Victor was predeceased by his parents along with brothers-in-law Sydney Smith, Lynwood Monteith, Jr., Kevin Monteith, George Monteith, and Brent Tarr, and sisters-in-law Blanche Hobbs and Florence Monteith.

Victor is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 60 years, Gloria. He is also survived by his sons Todd (Loretta), Frank (Nicole), Lynwood (Jessica), Bert, Alvin (Missy), Gene (friend Carrie), Noah (Melissa), and James. He is survived by grandchildren Ryan (Meagan), Craig (Eden), Victoria, Faith, Meredith (Jean-Marie Klumper), Evelyn, Dale, Blake, Byron, Malachi (Faith), Tirzah, Isaiah (Renee), Elijah, Jeremiah, Malackai, Kendzie, Gene, Elizabeth, Madeline, and Violet, and great grandchildren Victor, Emelia, Alex, and Leon. He is also survived by his brother Carl (Wilma), sister Marilee Smith, sisters-in-law Sylvia Tarr (Bob Knapik), Michelle Monteith, Brenda Monteith, Pam Kamen (Mark), Patti Batten (George), and brother-in-law Derek Monteith (Sherry).

A private burial service with immediate family members will be held on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, 1:00 PM at Fairmont Cemetery in Presque Isle. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, October 11 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm at the State Road Advent Christian Church in Mapleton.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Victor's memory to the Central Aroostook Association, care of Martin Pluckett, PO Box 1245, Presque Isle, ME 04769, to support individuals with developmental disabilities.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the Northern Light Health in Presque Isle and Mars Hill for the compassion they provided to Victor over his final two months and to all who prayed, visited, and aided with his care.
