Victorene "Vicky" Barnes, a cherished mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully in Waxahachie, Texas, leaving behind a legacy of love, care, and vibrant memories. Born on June 28, 1952, in
Corsicana, Texas, Vicky grew into a spirited and kind-hearted young woman who carried the warmth of her hometown throughout her life.
Vicky dedicated many years to the medical field as a Registered Nurse, specializing as an Operating Room Nurse in several North Texas hospitals. Her dedication to her profession was paralleled only by her devotion to the lives she touched, both on and off the operating table. Vicky found joy in healing others and took great pride in her work, often being the unsung hero in countless lives saved through her skilled hands and compassionate heart.
She was preceded in death by her loving parents, Jesse Albert and Jessie Juanita (Mitcham) Gorman, her dear brother Albert Gorman, and her sister Winona Childress. Her spirit is carried on by her two children: daughter Taylor Barnes-Garcia and son-in-law Ariel Garcia, as well as her son Clay Barnes and daughter-in-law Taylor West-Barnes. Vicky's grandchildren, Tinsley, Colter, and Cooper Barnes also survive her and will continue to be inspired by the values she instilled in them. Not to be forgotten, her cherished furry babies, Rusty and Sasha, who brought her endless joy and companionship.
Vicky was known among family and friends for her independence, fiery spirit, and zest for life. Her love for the Lord was profound, and it informed her compassionate dealings with all those she met. Vicky's love for adventure could be seen in her passion for water sports; she relished the thrill of jet skiing, swimming, and gracefully gliding on water skis. Her youthful spirit found joy in attending concerts, creating memories that resonated through her stories and laughter.
To say Vicky was a Dallas Cowboys fan would be an understatement; she rode the highs and lows with her beloved team with unwavering loyalty and optimism. Generations of family members and friends benefitted from her remarkable culinary skills, with her coconut cream pies becoming the centerpiece of many gatherings, embedding sweet flavors into cherished family traditions.
Vicky fought through life's challenges with determination, often showing her endearing defiant streak that those close to her both admired and fondly teased her about. She never wavered in her commitment to family, forging strong bonds that extended beyond kinship to include a wide circle of friends who felt the embrace of her generous spirit.
As we say goodbye to Victorene "Vicky" Barnes, we celebrate the brilliant tapestry of her life-woven with love, tenacity, and an enduring will. Her story does not end here, for she lives on not only in memory but in the lessons, she imparted and the lives she so deeply touched. Vicky's unquenchable spirit will continue to inspire those she has left behind to live each day with courage, faith, and an unwavering pursuit of joy. Her legacy will forever radiate in the hearts of those who had the privilege to know and love her.
