On the morning of June 24th 2022, the lord welcomed our mother and friend to his table. She
joined her parents and five siblings after gracing us with 92 years of joy and happiness.
The first of a twin, Vilma was born to Ferdinand and Ethel Desdunes. She worked at Jamaica
Oxygen and Acetylene until retirement, loving every minute of her time there.
Vilma was a fiercely devoted mom, grandmother, great grandmother and loyal friend.By far she
was the best lemonade maker in all of Kingston, Jamaica. As an avid tennis fan, she would
watch her beloved Federer and Venus with much passion, joy and enthusiasm. Although she
was quiet and a woman of few words, many encountered her feisty clever quips. Vilma had an
adventurous spirit that she lived out in her international travels and many trips to the north coast
of Jamaica on a whim with her friend and seven boisterous, exuberant teenagers. Her energetic
youthfulness inspired and awed many who would undoubtedly voice disbelief at her age.
Birthdays will feel hollow without that early morning wake up phone call, with that sweet, off key
melodic voice singing "happy birthday to you, happy birthday dear.....," how I wish to hear that
cracked voice singing once again, "your simply the best, better than all the rest."
Our hearts are broken but we rejoice that she is free from pain and sadness and now with her
Heavenly Father.
Her garden flourishes with her children Vivienne, Courtney and Lisa, their spouses Stan,Shirley
and Christian, her grandchildren Debbie, Nicole, Christopher, Matt, Jonathan, Daniel, Josh,
Rachel, their spouses Eric, Christina, Stepanie and Zainab, her great grandchildren,Alexa,
Dominic,
Marceline, Cyrus and Malachi.
