Vinay Dulip, age 71, passed away on October 9, 2024. He was born on June 12, 1953, to Motiram and Sashikala Dulip in Satara, India, a small town near Poona.
He was raised in Poona until 1968 by his grandparents. He then moved to Ikenne, Nigeria, where his father was a teacher at the renowned Mayflower School.
After completing his secondary schooling, he returned to Poona to continue his studies. He graduated from the University of Pune in 1975 with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry, with minors in Physics and Mathematics. On completion of his degree, he briefly taught science at St. Thomas School in Poona.
In 1977, he returned to Nigeria to teach chemistry in Ahoada, Nigeria. In 1980, He left Nigeria to pursue a chemical engineering degree in the United States of America.
Vinay was a lifelong learner. He attended The University of Texas at Austin and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering in 1982. Hook 'Em! It was during his time at UT that Vinay met his wife, Rosie. Vinay and Rosie married on March 17, 1982. While making Corpus Christi their home, Vinay pursued additional degrees. He received a Master of Science in Secondary Education with a minor in Chemistry from Corpus Christi State University and a Master of Science, Mid-Management Certification from Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi.
Vinay began his teaching career in the United States at Taft High School, in Taft, Texas. Vinay was then employed by Corpus Christi ISD for 28 years, with the majority of his time at Foy H. Moody High School. During his time at Moody, he received multiple accolades and achievements such as CCISD Teacher of the Year, H-E-B Excellence in Education Lifetime Achievement Award, and the Yale Educator Award. He became nationally certified and presented at national and regional conferences. He was invited by several students through the years to attend the Top Ten Banquet.
Vinay enjoyed cooking for loved ones, spending time with friends and family, and traveling the world in search of new experiences. He was known for his chicken curry and liquid nitrogen ice cream and shared it with family, friends, and students through the years. Through his persuasion, he convinced Rosie to travel the world and reconnect with family and friends around the globe. One of his greatest accomplishments was traveling to all 50 states and visiting all 7 continents. Throughout his lifetime, he parasailed in Indonesia, zorbed in New Zealand, slid down waterfalls in Costa Rica, visited the tortoise in the Galapagos, hot air ballooned in Turkey, drank mojitos in Cuba, tried his luck in Vegas, and completed scientific expeditions in Antarctica. He took great joy in sharing his adventures with everyone.
He will always be remembered for his devotion to family, especially grandchildren, passion for education, profound generosity and hospitality, love of travel and signature phrases, like "Get your life in order" or "Google it."
Vinay is preceded in death by his father and mother, Motiram and Shashikala Dulip, brother Ashok and sister Usha.
Left to cherish his memories are his beloved wife Rosie, daughters, Risha and Nisha, sons-in law, Kelly and Kevin, grandchildren, Niam, Kiran, and Vinaya, siblings Asha, Awi, Ravi, and Smitha, as well as his extended family which included countless friends and numerous former students.
A celebration of life will be held at 10:00 AM on November 2, 2024 at First Christian Church in
Corpus Christi, Texas, all who knew Vinay are invited to attend. Interment to follow at Seaside Funeral Home.
